The Picha Project is a social enterprise that aims to empower marginalised groups in Malaysia to be more self-sustainable by providing them a platform to cater food to the public. We run a food delivery and catering business where all meals on our menu are prepared by refugee families to generate income for their family.

Currently, we have 8 families from Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Myanmar and Afghanistan preparing their authentic traditional food from their home-country to cater to companies, universities, events, trainings, etc.

I enjoyed the yummy Afghan meal thanks to the lovely family. More than anything, it was eye-opening to learn about the prejudice and hardship refugee families face on a daily basis. Really makes you think about how fortunate you are! I went back with more than a happy tummy.

It was such a great experience to join The Picha Project Open House. It wasn't just a lunch you will get but more than that!! The bonding that you will not get and plus, you will learn about their culture as well as their experience while be in Malaysia. Such a great honor to meet the family!! Not to forget, the most important thing, they have scrumptious food on board.. So in love with the dumplings and you guys have to taste it!!

Such a great lunch - we loved learned about the Picha Project and hearing the story of our warm and gracious hosts. I’m so glad to know that people like Picha Project exist in the world. Keep up the great work!

I enjoyed the experience very much. There was a little practical problem in that directions to the venue were not clear enough, since there were two Red Apartment blocks, not just one and there was actually nothing on the buildings to say that they were the Red Apartments. However, this was sorted out through a franctic chain of WhatsApp messages and the hostess' young 6 year old son happily guided me to his flat once the organiser found me.
The lunch experience itself was good. I would have given it five whole stars had I been able to converse with the hostess or her nephew about their country and their plight as refugees here in Malaysia but unfortunately, that wasn't possible I guess because of her lack of English.
Still, I would and actually have already recommended this to friends.

It was a lovely get together with a delicious meal. The hosts opened their hearts, homes, and delicacies with us. The crowd of people this event invites are also equally as amazing and warm as one can imagine.

Your intentions was good. This event was very strange and useful and good for students. I was pleased to know your distribution.
Please invite us again. But please don't delay time.
