Hey, I'm Mai
Subang Jaya, Selangor
Living in Malaysia after marrying my husband, I've been assimilated into Malaysia's culture since. I met my husband in Siem Reap, he introduced Muslim to me which probably very much self explanatory in my unique style of cooking- Halal Vietnamese food specializing in Ha Noi cuisine. And this skill set didn’t just happen overnight, it took years of training in kitchen together with lots of love from my mother.

I really enjoyed the well-organised cooking class with Mai. The food we made was all phenomenal and we learned traditional techniques for Vietnamese cooking! Worth the money definitely, thumbs up!

Mai is an absolute delight. She taught us how to make beef pho, spring rolls and Hanoi rolls, and how to create that balance of sweet, sour and salty you find in any Vietnamese sauce. She guided us in the preparation of the dishes, and they were delicious! Mai told us where we could get some of the ingredients if we wanted to make them at home, but she also has some stock from Vietnam. Will be giving it a try soon.

Dear Lokalocal Team Mai has been a lovely lady and her teaching skills were excellent. I would like to thank her husband for making us vietnamese coffee. It was very sweet of both of them. However, I feel that Lokalocal team has to pay a visit to her home. It is simply an embarrasment taking expats to her home to learn Vietnamese Cooking. The place stinks and we had flies in the house. The ventilation was very poor and some times I had to leave the kithen as I was feeling nausious. Things were untidy at her home and dirty and imagine eating what we had prepared for the day under the dirty environment. Dont simply sign up all chefs for the sake of making money!
