Sungai Ruan is a town located in Raub District, Pahang, Malaysia. It is now synonymous with the district’s renowned Musang King Durian. You seldom get to experience an exciting ride on on a four-wheel drive across bumpy road, accompanied by beautiful scenery along the mountainous road to the durian orchard. In the durian orchard, you will be given a chance to pick up durians, and try fresh and yummy Musang King Durian on the spot!
Sungai Ruan consists of a passionate and warmhearted Chinese community who come from different native places. There are 28 wall paintings and poems appearing beside Sungai Ruan High School which briefs visitors on local and native culture. It was created for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of SMK Sungai Ruan, an idea inspired by the alumni for fund-raising, which then attracted many local and foreign artists, painters, and calligraphers to complete each and every painting on over 350 feet of fence.
The natural stalactite cave, Gua Kechil, was once the Communist hideout. There are writings on the wall left by the Communist, and signatures signifying the victories in defeating and purging the Communist, left by the Army and Police of British Communist Party. Fortunately, there is a Malay nature lover, Godey, living in the village, who is willing to protect the natural beauty of the cave.
