Come learn the lost art of Zapin - a Malay folk dance - in a fun and interactive session at our studio!
Zapin is a traditional Malay dance especially popular in southern Johor. Accompanied by musical instruments linked to Islamic culture, it is believed to have been introduced by Arab Muslim missionaries in the 14th century as a means to spread the religion. No longer limited to that purpose, the Zapin dance has now evolved to many variations.
In this session, you will have a chance to learn how to move to this gracious, dignified Malay dance form. The 1.5 hours class will be enough to cover the steps needed to mirror the different Zapin dance moves.
