On 22.2.2020 it is never 2 much when it comes to learning. So why not make 3 famous Nyonya kuih or traditional snacks with your local expert in Melaka!
In this class, you will learn to make Onde-onde, Pineapple Tart and Angku Kuih. These iconic Peranakan snacks are commonly made for special occasions and celebrations, as they symbolise fortune and prosperity. In the past, these recipes were kept secret as is tradition, but now that times have changed, your instructor will be sharing her prized family recipes along with her beloved mother.
The 3-hours class will provide everything you need from ingredients, cooking tools and an expert instructor. At the end of the class, you can enjoy your handmade Kuih with free flow of non-alcoholic drinks.
The class will be taken place in a 2-storey bungalow located in a peaceful residential area mostly resided by the locals. The house is fully air-conditioned so you can cook comfortably under our hot and humid local weather.
Meet up and let the class begin!
This cooking class will be fully hands-on! You will make and bring home these 3 very iconic Peranakan's sweets:
- Onde Onde: Green balls made from rice flour and pandan, filled with palm sugar and sprinkled with grated coconut
- Pineapple Tarts: Mini pastries filled with sweet pineapple jam
- Angku Kuih: Glutinous rice dumpling with sweet Mung bean filling
We will provide everything you'll need - ingredients, cooking tools and an expert instructor (my mom or myself)! Once you're done, enjoy your own creations with free flow of coffee and tea!

Our class caters for beginners and may not be suitable for intermediate or advance level guests in the art of kuih making.
